Contents

StoryEdit

Marie is the final boss for each characters' story in Story Mode and in Arcade Mode, and is possibly the main antagonist as well. It was revealed in Peacock's story that when Marie obtained the Skull Heart, she tried to punish her and Patrica's (or Peacock's) slavers who almost killed them. However, her heart was either considered impure, or her wish deemed selfish, and she was transformed into the Skullgirl.

She and Peacock hail from an area outside of the Canopy Kingdom known as No-Man's Land, a wasteland that used to be a country but fell during the war with the Canopy Kingdom. There, her and Peacock were child slaves.

Boss FightEdit

When you face her, she will have three forms, going from one to the next to the final form untill she is defeated, through all 3, she has the skull heart at her side. She is also holding what seems to be a vacuum made of bones. She is static besides when she floats around and cannot be grappled into blockbusters, her attacks consist of summoned minions and flying demon-skulls, Marie also has a black figure that she uses to attack the challenger and push them back. All of her attacks can be blocked for chip damage.

Relations with Other CharactersEdit

Peacock: Despite having a corrupted mind, she still cares for her friend Peacock. In Double's story, she insists that Double leave Peacock alone, as she "made a promise" to her. When Peacock faces Marie, she is somewhat upset about  having to fight Marie, but was still willing to take her down. Peacock later decides to carry on Marie's wish of taking down the Medicis.

Double: Double serves Marie and in her story goes after each candidate for Marie, she later turns on Marie when she believes that a new Skullgirl must take her place because she wanted to protect Peacock and because her master, The Divine Trinity, was tired of waiting for their wills to be carried out.

Valentine: Marie sends out Valentine on several missions during Valentine's story. Valentine is later revealed to be a traitor to both Lab Zero and Marie, being that Marie finds out about Painwheel being a project to defeat the Skullgirl.

Vitale: During Peacock's story Marie has revealed Vitale's corpse to Peacock as well as the bones of the other members of the Medici Mafia whom she managed to kill.

Medici Mafia: Marie has a very strong hatred for the Medici Mafia because of all their previous misdoings and misdeeds to Peacock who was originally named Patricia.

Filia: Marie claims that Filia has Medici blood in her and as such she must kill Filia and Samson as well however her attempts were unsuccessful as Filia and Samson managed to defeat her in her story.

Fighting StyleEdit

Marie is difficult fight, because she uses a variety of "Cheap Shots" that do a plenty of damage to you and she loves to spam these moves without any respect for the Tension Bar of hers that never decreases even though she's spamming all these extremely powerful attacks.

1st Form (Full Health)

Things will begin pretty calmly, with Marie floating in the air while surrounded by Skulls. This form will be the the easiest as she varies only between 2-4 attacks:

-The First one being an endless array of skulls that constantly fly in towards you to intercept your path, they do minimal damage and work for nothing more than stunning you (for now).

-The Second attack being the most dangerous during this section where she has a mass of Skulls snake their way towards you at either a diagonal or horizontal angle depending on your current position. These skulls you DO NOT want hitting you during this phase as they will take a really big chunk out of your health bar if they make contact; and believe me they have a high chance of making contact for if it even touches a hair on you head or your toe it will pull you along with it and do a good amount of damage. They can be blocked, though, for chip damage.

-The Third Attack being one where she summons a pile of skeletons from undeneath your feet to grapple you and hold you in place and then throw you across the field. This is a move that she will spam very much during all her forms so keep that in mind.

-The Fourth attack being that if she gets some distance between you and her, she will place a skeleton between the both of you, obstructing your path and allowing her to keep send skulls at you without any problem. See the reason this skeleton with ruin you day is because if you even get need him he will explode and do some serious damage. So DO NOT allow her to push you back. (Becomes MUCH more difficult stay close to her in the later sections of the fight).

This Form Lasts Until You Drop Her Down To About 2/3s Of Her Health. Becareful as when she starts to transform she emits a blue smoke during which if she catches you in it you will suffer about some SERIOUS damage.

NOTE:

-Recommend you DO NOT waste Tension Bars during this form

-Recommended way to fight her in this form would be just with normal attacks until reaching the second form

2nd Form (2/3 Health):

Here's where things will begin to get a bit... Tedious. Marie's form will have changed to one where she's floating in the air with a figure created by the Skull Heart floating right behind her. Marie stops launching skull at you during this form at least. Yet, She has a new set of attacks for this form on top of her already existing attacks:

-The Fifth Move is one of her most annoying ones, where the figure behind her sends a shadow out to attack you from any direction:

-- If the Shadow Flies UPWARD from Marie its going to land on you from ABOVE counting as a High Attack, so block this one Standing up for chip damage.

-- If the Shadow sinks DOWN into the ground it will be coming up from UNDERNEATH you, block this by crouching.

-- If the Shadow appears and then just randomly disappears its coming from behind you, simply block to avoid this it does not matter if its standing or crouching.

-- Also, there will be moments when Marie will get close to you so that the shadow can elbow you and send you flying across the field.  -The Sixth Move is that she has replaced the Mass of Skulls for a random knight that will come charging at you diagonally or horizontally.

-The Seventh move is one where she brings in a undead corpse of, What is seems to be, a former Medici gangmember to start shooting at you pushing you back and damaging you if you're too close to her.

NOTE

-Recommend beating this using normal moves with an occasional Blockbuster, don't waste them all though as some characters can really finish the next part with ease if they just have enough Tension Bars.

Effective Moves in this form (Blockbusters, Specials, Etc.):

Fillia - Gregor Samson (QCB + KK)

Cerebella - Diamond Dynamo (QCF + PP)

Peacock - Argus Agony (QCF + PP)

Parasoul - Inferno Brigade (QCB + PP)

               - Normal (jump, HP)

Ms. Fortune - Cat Scratch Fever (QCF + PP)

Painwheel - Death Crawl (QCF + PP)

Valentine - CheckMate Incision (QCF + PP)

- Feel free to use up all of Valentine's Tension Bars in this form because her block busters are useless in the next form

Double - Bandwagon Rushdown (QCF + PP)

Final Form (1/3 Health):

The most difficult and grueling form of Marie as she becomes nothing more than a organism surrounding the Skull Heart which is what you must attack to hurt her.

Attacks? She basically spams attacks 1-7 and they all do immese damage because they're all coming at you at once a majority of the time. The Chip damage even hurts you plenty.

Effective Moves in this form (Blockbusters, Specials, Etc.):

Playstyle SpeculationEdit

With the power of the Skull Heart in her, Marie can summon undead minions, use her maid skills to cleanse the world of her enemies, and even vacuum up the corpses of the fallen to increase her own power.
